Expanding and Maintaining Access to Telehealth Services During the COVID-19 for Medicare Beneficiaries

NOF on behalf of the NBHPI has submitted comments to CMS and HHS regarding proposed rules that could impact osteoporosis patients access to testing and treatment. The following comment letter was submitted on July 15, 2020:

Dear Administrator Verma:

On behalf of our national organizations advocating for bone health, women’s health, aging and family caregivers (listed below), we are writing to thank you for your efforts to expand access to telehealth services during the COVID-19 crisis and to urge you to maintain and expand this important option for Medicare beneficiaries. Access to telehealth is an important lifeline to the more than 54 million people, mostly women, who either have osteoporosis (weakening of the bones leading to fractures) or are at high risk of the disease due to low bone density. Telehealth access is especially important to this population as most are older and many have other pre-existing, chronic health conditions.
